Marrying the Beast
Fake Marriage Romance, #5
Hey everyone,
To tell the truth, it's been a boring week. Minus my husband traveling to North Carolina to attend tent school. Some of you are scratching your head, wondering what on-earth tent school could be.
The short explanation is this: it's to teach people how to set up those huge white tents used for special occasions. There's a science and a lot of thought that goes behind them. Safety is a concern as well. My husband wants to expand his party rental business to include tents, and to do that, and do it well, he had to go to school.
So, yeah, tent school.
That's about as exciting as we got this week.
Oh, not true! I sent Walker to my editor. :) To me, that's pretty exciting. Hopefully, I'll get it back soon and get it tidied up and published soon. I want this one to be as great as I can make it. It's the last book in the series and I wanted to end the series on a super high note. I hope I accomplish that.
All right, Good Grief, Bree.
Marrying the Beast.
It's been long enough that I don't remember much of the complaints, and my ego isn't in a space that would allow me to read through them, so I'm just going to talk about the book in general.
If you haven't read it, you can grab it free until Monday. It's free, free. Again, it's in Kindle Unlimited, and Amazon controls the timeframe for books. All I do is give them the dates, and they take over from there. It should be free by the time this newsletter hits inboxes.
If you have read it, did you catch Isabeau? Ladyhawke. Probably one of my top five movies. I LOVE that movie. What's not to love? Intrigue, star-crossed lovers, comedy, a giant black Friesian horse... I mean, all of it. It's just a fantastic movie.
Anyway, this was a Cinderella/Beauty and the Beast mix-up fairytale re-telling, and I just thought of all the times to use Isabeau, this was the best time.
It was difficult writing about stalking. I wanted to treat the subject with respect and still maintain my light, fluffy storytelling. I like light and fluffy and foo-foo because I just do. The world is dark and ugly at times, and I want my books to be an escape. I also don't want to avoid issues either. It's a pretty thin line, and I think I did okay on this one.
There's a fun fact, but I'm not sure if it's a spoiler or not so... I'll hit the spacebar a few times. That way I'm not giving anything away just in case. So, if you see ***SPOILER*** scroll quickly until you see the next ***SPOILER***.
***SPOILER***
My editor and I disagreed on Rowan and plastic surgery. She thought he should get plastic surgery to repair his face, and I thought that would negate everything. Isabeau loved him because of his character. I felt it would have been superficial to do it. So, I couldn't do it. I still feel the same way.
***SPOILER***
I loved this book. I liked Isabeau and Rowan's growth throughout the story. They pushed each other to heal. To forgive and stop living in the past. (Again, my typical theme.)
Another little fun fact: While writing this book, I came up with the idea for Noah. Guardian Group made their first appearance in Marrying the Protector and then again in this book.
Anyway, this marks the end of the Fake Marriage series. I think I'll move to some of the stand-alones after this. Which stand-alone would you like to know about? Let me know this coming week. :)
All right, I guess I'll call it good for this week. I'm a little tired, and I'm sort of running out of steam.
You all have a great weekend, and I'll see you next week.
XOXOXO,
Bree
